SINDA have done many projects for their members thus far:
Project Athena
Project Athena helps to empower and build confidence of single mothers, who face the challenge of bringing up their children single handedly, develop long term solutions to the challenges in they have.
The 1st phase of the programme involves working with the single mothers and identifying the needs of their families. The sessions include hands on activities to engage the mothers and help them become more confident.
The 2nd phase involves engaging the mothers to discuss the needs and planning enrichment activities for their children.
Project Teach
It is a school-based tutorial programme which was establishe in 2001. It aims to improve the academic performance of Indian students in English, Mathematics or Science from Primary 1 to Primary 6. In 2010, Project Teach was carried out in 51 schools.
Project Victory
Project Victory is a school based motivational programme for Primary School students to help enhance the self-esteem of students through a fun and interactive programme. A heightened self esteem level will in turn help the students to perform better academically.
Project Give
It is SINDA’s annual fund raising campaign to raise funds to support the educational needs of children from low income families. Project Give was initiated in 2001, it provides an opportunity for organizations and individuals to come together with a common spirit of community and purpose to ensure that no child’s education is compromised due to financial constraints.
SINDA Family Service Centre
The SINDA Family Service Centre has a team of professional staff to provide social work and counselling services to those who are experiencing difficulties in their personal, work, marriage and family lives. SINDA believes that counselling is a process of renewing, rebuilding and restoring relationships. Officers help to assess problems, conduct home visits, and provide help where necessary.
Legal ClinicVolunteer lawyers provide free legal consultation to Indian families with lower incomes.
